There are a number of organizations dedicated to fighting ALS and having lost my amazing brother to this devastating disease Im deeply grateful for every single one of them and what theyre contributing to the work that must be done. As it happens, The ALS Association, and in particular, The ALS Association Oregon and SW Washington Chapter is the organization Ive chosen to whole-heartedly support with my time and donations because I know firsthand of their work, dedication, transparency, and genuine commitment to confronting ALS in a number of areas. Contrary to some comments peppering Facebook the ALS Association is very much committed to research *as well as to* nationwide advocacy, public education, and providing an endless and vital list of care services for those living today with ALS including support groups, loan closets, specialized clinics, skilled technicians who assist patients in their homes with needed medical equipment, and so much more. Above all else, the genuine compassion and care shown by ALS paid staff and volunteers to those living with ALS and their families alone would be worth every bucket of water thrown and every dollar raised. At least in the opinion of this one sister.
