There are conflicting reports about the police killing of Naim Dean, 21, in Glencoe last night. Police said Dean was shot once in the chest after he had stabbed an officer with a knife. But a relative, Alderman Simon, says, Naim was murdered by a policeman, shot in his back while running from being abused. She says, The policeman was slapping him up in the presence of at least nine of us. He ran and the policeman ran after him and shot him in the back. Thats what happened. The alderman says the killing may be the result of racial profiling: He was just leaving with some friends, driving out. I know there is racialism in this country, seriously, eh. But Im not pointing fingers at racialism here. Simon says she has filed a report with the Police Complaints Authority and plans to speak with a lawyer. Police say a knife was recovered on the scene and that a quantity of marijuana was found on Dean by a doctor at the St James Medical Centre.
