There are dozens of reasons I hate flexileads but here is a real life example of how they can injure your dog. This is from a Whippet rescue volunteer. On Thanksgiving morning, my son & I took Chase & Lucy on a beautiful walk in the neighborhood. We were enjoying the view when Chase launched himself over a concrete wall which on the other side dropped 3 stories! He landed on a concrete landing just below the stairs! I thought he was dead! When we ran down the stairs we found that, although laying motionless, his eyes were blinking. He was able to walk to the car & we rushed to the emergency vet. He is cut & bruised but has no internal injuries or broken bones. He is my little miracle boy! ps, if he had been on a regular leash instead of a stupid retractable, I think we could have pulled him back before he went over. I threw away my retractable leashes!
