There are few people who make lasting impressions on you and whose words of wisdom you listen to and abide by. Deacon Hillard Bossard was one of these people or in my case one of those men. Not only did he impart his words of wisdom he let me know when I was headed in the wrong direction and would never yell or make me feel bad. In his own, unique soft spoken way he would let me know, Now, John you know better than that. I expect more out of you than that. Or you are the man in that house and you need to help your mother/grandmother out more. The impression he left on me is he was dedicated to his school and definitely dedicated to his church. I cant recall before I left Zion and went in the Army a funeral that he did not speak or pray at. He went above and beyond what most men do at their church. He was humble and did not look for praise or recognition. A true example of a Christian. He left a legacy for most young men at Zion and in the community. He leaves mighty big shoes to fill. I know his words of wisdom will forever echo in my mind. His spirit and my other mentor who is gone on to glory Uncle Rufus (J.Ford) will help guide and direct my thoughts and actions until I join them on the other side of Jordan.
