There are many methods of voter fraud. Those perpetrated by powerful political figures, by organizations with a specific ideological bent, by exploitation of holes in the election system and by the force of law. One that is too often overlooked is that fraud carried out by force of law where the state, via the two major parties, create a legal atmosphere that virtually outlaws competing ideas via alternative political parties. This then works to disenfranchise voters based on their political perspective and their individual choices on election day by altogether preventing their preferred option from appearing on the election ballot. These laws are known as ballot access laws. While their simple existence does not constitute a fraudulent election, their abuse like so many other good intentioned laws does constitute fraud through artificially enhancing the vote totals of the two major parties by restricting the right of participation in the electoral process by alternative voices. Our State Constitution and system of representative-democracy demand free elections. Self-Government demands free elections. The free flow of ideas, the checks and balances of power and the protection of our inalienable rights demand free elections, and there cannot be free elections without free choice.
