There are many reasons I believe in Farmers Markets. One is the sharing of traditions. Traditional family foods made to share with others. Spreading the joy from recipes long held dear and treasured by ones family. Today we get to do that by offering two types of cookies at the Holiday Farmers Market at BSU. While there will also be some more widely known and more modern cookies, the two pictured Roe Family Peanut Cookies and Soft Sugar Cookies are by far the stars and most wonderful cookies in my realm. Fortunately, Frank, is a fantastic baker and throughout our 40+ years together has been willing to roll out and bake these old fashioned sticky dough, not so easy to make cookies. (while I did get the sewing capable genes from Grandma; missed the good baker genes entirely.) Today at market (in Hobson Memorial Union, Sponsored by BSU Sustainability Office, these cookies will be on the table. Ill be behind the table, likely munching on one or the other, dressed in an art coat called Rise and Shine a coat created as a tribute to Mom and Grandma, who both had good sewing genes. In the midst of all this family stuff, Im in the mood for story telling. If you are too, bring some of your family stories to share and we can revel in family tales. What are your favorite family cookies?
