There are not only two sides to every story, and issues are not black and white, but usually have much gray in between. For instance, in the privacy of a voting booth you have the freedom to vote your conscience. I have been thinking a lot about North Dakota Measure 1, and encourage people to acknowledge and accept that choosing to vote against this measure does not mean that you do not support life. A choice on how to vote on this one can be informed by thinking through the unintended consequences on lives of many. Voting no on this measure may be due to the vagueness of the wording and the many challenges that will come to difficult personal decisions of people at many stages of life, including the end of it, and for the health professionals who care for us.
