There are some facts which are given below Wind off the so called development as claimed by UPA II led by Congress (links are also given below for the reference, if needed)- 1. BJP government provided 60 million jobs in 5 years (1999-2004) while Congress government has provided 53 million jobs in 9 years (2004-2013). [Source: Hindustan times, 21 June] 2. GDP was around 8.1% in 2004 when Congress came into the power which has now gone down below 5%. 3. CPI Inflation Index (scale to measure the retail inflation) was 3.9% in 2004 which has been risen to 10.4%. 4. Current Account balance was 0.4% of GDP in 2004 which has gone down to (-3.6%) in 2013. 5. Industrial Growth rate was 5.4% in 2004 when Congress took over the reins from BJP. Now it has been fallen to 4.4%. 6. During the BJP regime Industrial Production rate increased from 4% (1998) to 9% (2004). It has gone down to (-0.6%) in the Congress regime. 7. Our currency has depreciated significantly during the last 9 years under UPA rule (Rs.42/USD in 2004 to Rs. 62/USD in 2013). As a result there is Balance of Payment crisis and now the government is digging here & there in search of GOLD to get out of this scenario (digging in Daundiya Kheda for search of Gold). 8. As per the data released by Planning Commission, contribution of the agriculture sector in the GDP has decreased from 26% (1999) to 13% (2013). India is a country which is still largely dependent on Agro sector for development & employment and these shocking details reveal the plight of the farmers. 9. Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ji started the project of linking all the four metros (Golden Quadrilateral Project) which proved to be a mile stone in the development in the Infrastructure sector. BJP government gave priority to Highways, Telecom sector, Power sector (based on Alhuwalia Committee recommendation) etc. in the infrastructure sector which escalated the growth and its benefits were reaped by the subsequent Congress governments. 10. In July 2013 Central Government has filed an affidavit in the Supreme Court in which it has admitted that BJP government built more highways in 5 years tenure as compared to the rest of the period post independence. 11. Vajpayee Ji launched Kisan Credit Card scheme for the farmers to avail credit at low interest rate along with Crop Insurance which helped the poor farmers. As against this Congress government launched schemes like MNREGA etc. which are blamed for mass level corruption and shows their myopia. 12. As per the CAG report in case of malnutrition except Bihar (which topped the list), all other states that topped were Congress ruled states. These results wind off the claim on social development parameters considering the fact that Congress government is in power both Centre as well as state.
