There are some that derisively refer to being in the opening match of a wrestling event as being curtain jerkers. However, those that do think of either the opening match itself or being in the opening match as merely curtain jerkers simply do not understand that being in the opening match is just as important as the main event. The main event is your biggest draw. Your opening match is the go-to guy, and is the match that sets the stage for the entire show. If your opening bout is the pits, it sets the fan expectation for the rest of the night. If the opening bout captures the attention of the fans in attendance, they know theyre in for one heckuva ride the rest of the night. At Real Wrestling Action (RWA) Serious Business on May 31st at Scott Hall in the Johnson County Fairgrounds in Franklin, Indiana, for the first official match in RWA history, RWA chose to open the show with a tag team match featuring Joey Owens and Dave Davidson against Jeff Holloway and Jay Taylor. Owens and Davidson are veterans of the Indiana wrestling scene, and are considered to be simply two of the best wrestlers to ever lace up a pair of boots on the independent scene, but theres more to it then that. They know each other so well because theyve beaten each other bloody in matches all across the Midwest. In recent years, however, the animosity has subsided and theyve found a mutual respect for one another, setting aside past grievances and working towards a common goal of victory in tag team wrestling. Opposing them at Real Wrestling Action will be Jeff Holloway and Jay Taylor. Jeff is one of the most exciting young talents in all of independent wrestling. He can pull off moves that defy logic and common sense within a match, not to mention gravity. Since learning and following the teachings of self help fitness guru Jay Taylor, Jeff claims he has become a better wrestler in the ring, and even more importantly, a better person. Taylor has promised to show the entire RWA Nation that his Jay Way is the best way to victory in the ranks of professional wrestling. No matter the outcome of this match, you can bet that come May 31, at Scott Hall in the Johnson County Fairgrounds in Franklin, Indiana, Joey Owens and Dave Davidson vs. Jeff Holloway and Jay Taylor will be Serious Business.
