There are two Zimbabweans for the record I know, have been fervent - TopicsExpress

There are two Zimbabweans for the record I know, have been fervent campaigners against the death sentence. These are Emmerson Mnangagwa of ZANU PF and Munyaradzi Gwisai of ISO. Gwisais agitation against the death is a well written script to all Zimbabweans in social, legal and political sphere. His argument being that it is a human rights violation. That it is moral wrong to kill someone because even murderers have the right to life. Mnangagwa narrates his horrendous experience on the doorsteps of a death sentence during the Smiths regime period when he was supposed to be sentenced to death after an act of terrorism in Masvingo the minority regime. We hope Chris Mutsvangwa wont come out tomorrow and tell us that it is a lie peddled to sanctify the liberation war credentials of Emmerson. Mnangagwa says since then he has always been against death sentence. The new constitution has banned the death sentence against women but retained it on men aged between 21 and 70 years. Zimbabweans are still debating why death sentence was returned to men only of a certain age group. Should the death sentence be banished all together or it should be retained to all people regardless of gender???
