There are two documentary films that have been around for a long time now about what went on in Iraq and Afghanistan...Taxi To The Dark Side, which won an Oscar and Standard Operating Procedure by the legendary Errol Morris. I used to teach documentary film on a part-time basis at Cal State L.A. and Im pretty sure I never showed either of these films to my students. For me, Taxi to the Dark Side was simply too upsetting and Errol Morris also made The Fog of War, and I showed them that one instead. But if you want to know the casual nature of young people torturing other human beings, Standard Operating Procedure dealt with the day to day process by regular MPs basically who took pictures of everything...just for fun. In it they referred to these shirts, non-military ghosts who were in and out and also one of several murders committed and the cover-up of that one in particular. This torture report had been on the shelf at the video store since back when there were video stores. However, Standard operating Procedure is worth a look and is not likely to give you nightmares like the other one. https://youtube/watch?v=InXqFEK6I00
