There are two sides to every door. Of all the aggravating - TopicsExpress

There are two sides to every door. Of all the aggravating things, its actually the British examples of the extreme politeness that are probably making the top of my personal list of peeves. Dont get me wrong - I value chivalry and overall courteous behavior. But there is opening the door for you and letting you pass - and there is that absolutely inexplicably painful gesture of throwing ones hand back after you already passed through, holding the door with two fingers for someone who might come next - while usually I am still few meters away and now feel obliged to rush so as not to make then wait for too long. I always wanted to calculate how much more effort I have to put into this force sprint, compared to open the door on my own. There is the complete opposite of course for the holding the door curse - people holding the lifts door, preventing from the lift to move, talking to someone outside of the cabin, while people inside are patiently working up the courage to jolt the offender down the lift shaft. Sure well wait. While you are finishing your chitchat that you could have completed by stepping out and saving seven generations of your descendants from eternal curse. There is rule for every door. Some people just dont get it right.
