There are two things Im certain of: I still stumble over the question, how many children do you have? and second, as Mothers Day approaches I feel a stabbing sense of loss that is deep and filled with sorrow no matter how many years have passed. Love for a child who has died doesnt expire or have a time limit. And oddly enough, the love for my missing child grows as the years go by, almost as though he is present on this earth. It doesnt minimize the incredible joy I share with my three living children. Because of Garretts death, I love them harder and appreciate every single breath they take. They are my joy, my life, my everything. And...I know my heart will always long for the presence, the life, and what could have been, had my beautiful boy not died. For all of those mothers like me, I am with you as Mothers Day comes once again.
