There can be no such thing as SIN, argued the 16th century dutch - TopicsExpress

There can be no such thing as SIN, argued the 16th century dutch thinker, Spinoza. His strange assertion made the zealot theologians of his time almost go volcanic. Sin simply put, is the disregard of the tenets of God. What determines the determines the will of God? The Koran, bible, Torah? Or what have you? St Augustine the catholic theologian turned saint was of the view that nothing happens in contrary to the will of God, as such he boldly declared that men are led to sin by the blindness inflicted on them by God. The modern theologian differs strongly, stating that God cannot send men to hell for what he causes them to do and which they cannot assuage themselves from. But rather, sin is a free will of man and not a consequence from God. The modern apologist states this and on the contrary gives a blind eye to doctrine of ORIGINAL SIN which describes man as a SINNER from birth and many verses in their texts stating thus: BEFORE YOU WERE BORN, I KNEW THEE, I AM THE AUTHOR AND THE FINISHER. And in many verses it is asserted that NOTHING CAN HAPPEN UNLESS THE LORD COMMANDS SO. The proclamation of God as both OMNISCIENT and OMNIPOTENT has drawn him into indictment as one who is aware of the sinners preconceived sinful nature but at the same time his omnipotence which would have prevented men from sinning has refused to come forth and do the needful. When Spinoza was descended upon by his contemporaries saying was it not wicked of Nero to murder his mother? Was it not wicked of Adam to eat the apple? Spinoza refuted: if everything happens in accordance with the will of God, God must have wanted Nero to murder his mother; therefore, since God is good, God must have wanted Nero to murder his mother; therefore, since God is good, the murder must have been a good thing.
