There exists an increasingly held belief that people with autism - TopicsExpress

There exists an increasingly held belief that people with autism are intellectually intact people trapped in bodies that do not respond to mental intention. This notion is not substantiated by any evidence and stands in stark contrast to what we know about behavior and neurology. We see people like Carly Fleischmann and want to believe their story. Hers is a story that offers hope, but the story is not accompanied by any credible evidence. Dedicated scientists and practitioners who work every day to improve outcomes of people with disabilities are vilified for doubting and insisting on evidence. Their skepticism is mistaken for hostility and condemnation. Ironically, the very people advancing this unfounded meme are granted immediate credibility and are viewed as champions of the neurodiversity movement. https://youtube/watch?v=KmDGvquzn2k
