There has been a HUGE increase (600%) in esophageal cancer rates in recent years. Silent Reflux (LPR) or acid reflux without the typical heartburn symptoms, etc. is linked to this. A great way to reduce your odds of getting this type of cancer, or at the least, suffering from any reflux conditions is to stop drinking soda and reduce the fatty foods (fried foods, cheese, red meat) in your diet. All of these increase acid in the stomach and lead to acid reflux which can lead to cells mutating into cancer cells.
