There has been a lot of discussion, controversy and hard feelings about personalized jerseys so far this season. The Alton Renegades Board would like to explain the decisions and processes that have been put in place regarding personalized jerseys. The Alton Renegades feel their duty is to insure every child who wants to participate in Football or Cheerleading has the opportunity to do that, regardless of their financial situation. For the past two seasons the board has worked diligently to find ways to continue our mission to provide Football and Cheerleading at an affordable cost. With the rising costs for equipment, field maintenance, insurance and required documentation by tri-county it has become necessary to secure additional funds. We have tried many different fundraisers, reached out for additional community support, and have established new guidelines to ensure that the Alton Renegades can continue to offer Football and Cheerleading to not only our children, but to our grandchildren as well. One of the boards’ decisions was to collect as much money as possible from registration fees. These fees provide each player with insurance and the use of equipment and a non-personalized jersey for the season. The board has decided if scholarship recipients wish to purchase personalized jerseys, they will need to pay the entire registration fee or move to a payment plan. The board also made a decision to use one specific dealer for all of the spirit wear and jerseys for this season. The prices on the jerseys have not been inflated and the Renegades organization does not make any profit from the sale of these jerseys. The last time to order jerseys will be Thursday August 7th under the tent at the field. We hope that everyone understands and will support the decisions of the board so we can continue to offer Alton Renegades football and cheerleading to this community for years to come.
