There have been many temples in Israels history. The patriarchs who walked with God built alters upon which they offered burnt offerings. When Moses led them out of Egypt, he was instructed of the Lord to build a portable Tabernacle. God manifested His presence there in their midst. Later He allowed the building of a Temple by Solomon, where He again manifested His presence. After the return from captivity another Temple was built, under Ezra and Nehemiah. Gods presence on Earth next came in the bodily form of Jesus Christ. Whom after His death, burial, and resurrection, ascended into heaven and poured out the Spirit into His Church. The Church at that time was entirely Jewish, and it was these Jews, the Temple of the Lord, which were first called Christians. Through them God began accepting all the families of the Earth, the Church then including all who believe, is now the Temple of God on Earth. Jesus is returning to take this body of believers to Himself. A new Temple will be built on Earth during the period of the Churches absence. The anti Christ will set himself up in this temple, claiming to be God. He will be cast down at Jesus Christs return, and a Temple will be built for the millennial reign of Jesus Christ. At the end of the millennium God will create a New Earth and the New Jerusalem will come down from heaven, God and the Lamb being the Temple for the redeemed of all ages. Glory to God!
