There is Hope for Mankind and Hope for the Nations Psalm 30 - TopicsExpress

There is Hope for Mankind and Hope for the Nations Psalm 30 speaks of the anger of God. God is angry with the lack of love and concern for humanity for humanity. But, God’s anger does not last. God is angry with humanity’s actions but loves humanity. Psalm 30:4-5 reveals that in God’s favor for man, weeping during the dark nights of the soul does not last. When the sunrise comes in the morning there is joy. Today’s passage is from Psalm 33. This Psalm is dedicated to the crimes and sins of the nations. Nations plan evil, but evil is thwarted by God. It may seem that nations are getting by with atrocities, but these nations will fall in God’s time. In World War II evil nations fell. In Biblical times Babylon fell. The Roman Empire fell. But, God’s plan for man stands forever. from Wikipedia: As of the early twenty-first century, it was estimated that 54% of the worlds population (3.8 billion people) considered themselves adherents of the Abrahamic religions, about 30% of other religions, and 16% of no organized religion.. God’s eternal plan for mankind is found in Christ, the source of hope: Romans 14:8-12 8 If we live, we live for the Lord, and if we die, we die for the Lord. Therefore, whether we live or die, we belong to God. 9 This is why Christ died and lived: so that he might be Lord of both the dead and the living. 10 But why do you judge your brother or sister? Or why do you look down on your brother or sister? We all will stand in front of the judgment seat of God.11 Because it is written, As I live, says the Lord, every knee will bow to me, and every tongue will give praise to God. 12 So then, each of us will give an account of ourselves to God. Psalm 33:10-22 Reveals That Hope For The Nations Is Found Only In God. Hope is Found in God How Does Hope Work In Nations? I. God overrules what nations plan-ex. WWII. 10 The LORD overrules what the nations plan; he frustrates what the peoples intend to do. II. God’s time is not our time. God’s plans stand and work in the lives of people from generation to generation. We may not see God’s work done in our lifetime, but it will be done in God’s time. 11 But the LORD’s plan stands forever; what he intends to do lasts from one generation to the next. II. True happiness comes in God. God calls man to serve Him. He has chosen to claim His people as His possession. In God’s hands, there is true happiness. Nations which put their faith in their military strength and not God are weak. 12 The nation whose God is the LORD, the people whom God has chosen as his possession, is truly happy! 13 The LORD looks down from heaven; he sees every human being. 14 From his dwelling place God observes all who live on earth. 15 God is the one who made all their hearts, the one who knows everything they do. 16 Kings aren’t saved by the strength of their armies; warriors aren’t rescued by how much power they have. 17 A warhorse is a bad bet for victory; it can’t save despite its great strength. III. God’s eyes watch over us. Even when we experience great trouble God’s eyes have not closed. His faithful love surrounds us. He works through those who love Him. God does not ‘rain down’ manna from heaven as He did in Moses’ time. In these times God’s love dwells in the heart of man. Those whose hearts have been cleansed by the sacrifice of Christ, are vessels of love, kindness, respect and help for those who are suffering. God is our help and our shield. 18 But look here: the LORD’s eyes watch all who honor him, all who wait for his faithful love, 19 to deliver their lives from death and keep them alive during a famine. 20 We put our hope in the LORD. He is our help and our shield. 21 Our heart rejoices in God because we trust his holy name. 22 LORD, let your faithful love surround us because we wait for you. God’s eye is on all of His creation, including the small sparrow: ‘His Eye is On the Sparrow’-hymn history Civilla Martin, who wrote the lyrics, said this about her inspiration to write the song based in the scriptures outlined above, Early in the spring of 1905, my husband and I were sojourning in Elmira, New York. We contracted a deep friendship for a couple by the name of Mr. and Mrs. Doolittle—true saints of God. Mrs. Doolittle had been bedridden for nigh twenty years. Her husband was an incurable cripple who had to propel himself to and from his business in a wheel chair. Despite their afflictions, they lived happy Christian lives, bringing inspiration and comfort to all who knew them. One day while we were visiting with the Doolittles, my husband commented on their bright hopefulness and asked them for the secret of it. Mrs. Doolittles reply was simple: His eye is on the sparrow, and I know He watches me. The beauty of this simple expression of boundless faith gripped the hearts and fired the imagination of Dr. Martin and me. The hymn His Eye Is on the Sparrow was the outcome of that experience. —Civilla Martin https://youtube/watch?v=TsTVF-uc1u4 His Eye is On the Sparrow-Ethel Waters-‘The Member of the Wedding’ My prayer for you today is that you know that God has a plan for the nations and a plan for every individual. We all suffer bad times, but God walks with us through the storms and the sunshine. His eye is on the nations. There is hope for the nations because of the Son-shine who came to earth to bring a future and a hope. Love in Christ, Pat
