The tv licence can only convict you for not having a licence based on the information you provide them. Without your help you cannot be summoned to court. There is no legal obligation to tell TV Licensing anything. If you do decide to talk to them you therefore consent and fall liable under the act. If you currently have a licence you must cancel this first to come out of your contract with tvl. After a period of no contact all mail from tvl will be addressed to the legal occupier.
