There is a disturbing trend in humor these days: fake news stories that attribute silly statements to people known for similarly silly statements. How is it funny to put false statements into the mouths of people who are known to say almost equally stupid things? Is it supposed to be some sort of ultra-clever gotcha moment? Well, it is not. What is supposed to be funny about it? That we would believe such things? Well, when the statements are really close to what people really say, it only shows that someone has a weak sense of humor. These people are just jackasses making information ever more unreliable. This is a terrible trend in humor.
