There is a line in the first stanza of O Little Town of Bethlehem - TopicsExpress

There is a line in the first stanza of O Little Town of Bethlehem that says Yet in thy dark streets shineth, The everlasting Light; The hopes and fears of all the years Are met in thee tonight. In the midst of contemporary systemic injustice, blatant prejudice, covert micro-aggressions, racialized hatred, gender (female) invisibility, death in dark streets, vile descriptors of the humanity of some mothers son and some fathers daughter, and the weight of justice fatigue, my faith still leads me to believe in the promised illuminating in breaking of the one Isaiah designated as Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. My hopes and fears are real and at times too much to bear but even in the dark recesses of my mind there is a Light that allows me to keep trying to get this life thing right, to believe humans can live in peace, that love will prevail and that God always has the first and last Word. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year. I pray 2015 is healthier, happier, and more humane. IJS.
