There is a misconception thus far that only one person has noted, - TopicsExpress

There is a misconception thus far that only one person has noted, but if one person has said it, it deserves my attention. I in no way have nor pretend to have nor believe I am holier than thou. I think Ive stated multiple times over the past several days that I have my own struggles and my goal is to try to be aware. Based upon that a few things need clarification - 1. Just because someone is wrong (in your perception or my perception, etc) it doesnt mean they are wrong. It means that his/her truth is contradictory from yours/mine - and thats ok. 2. Willingness to be wrong, to make mistakes does not somehow make someone an awful person. In my eyes, the willingness to be wrong is the most important thing a person can do, especially if that is backed with sincerity and commitment. 3. An argument doesnt make me unfriend anyone. Ive had multiple arguments with many friends the past week..heck, my entire life, and rest assured the only time Ive unfriended someone on here is when Ive felt that it simply wouldnt matter what I said, theyd just keep finding more and more reference points to back their perspective instead of listening. Step away from Google, open your heart and mind, and LISTEN. This is social media - it is NOT real life. I can most definitely be your friend in real life and not on here. I do reserve the right to not have to justify every word I type - to anyone - see 2 - especially when it becomes a typing contest. Id just rather meet offline and talk. Lets get coffee, dinner, hell anything, other than sitting in front of a screen and plucking away at the keys. 4. Ive had a number of really beautiful moments with friends this week that far outweigh any of the bad. To everyone who took the time to say something to me, it didnt fall on deaf ears. Thereve been a number of times this week where I was overcome by sadness and it was purely through the love and compassion shown by friends both old and new that I felt ok and kept going. 5. I say it all the time, but I am so fortunate to have YOU in my life. Today I went into Ferguson. Yes - on West Florissant there were damaged stores and the burned QT. The protest at the police dept of Ferguson is on Florissant road, not West Florissant (two different things entirely) and those protest were being led by a church group. They were very kind and excellent people. When a drunk women came onto the lot, grabbed a water bottle and chucked it across the road towards the police station in one of the more intense moments, they stopped immediately, called everyone together, and stated firmly we were not there for that and anyone who was could leave...then we hugged for what seemed to go on for 5 minutes and then back in line. It was beautifully ran. There was plenty of food and water for those folks at the police station. I have friends living there....and after the protest, I went to hang with them for a bit. In our conversation, I was made aware of some realities I had not thought of...Anonymous didnt just bring down the police pcs, they brought down the entire network of govt services of Ferguson...this means that Social Workers are unable to case manage effectively, fire/police/ambulance are at a disadvantage, prescriptions for medicine are not readily available --- to live this way is not easy, especially for those who rely on this services to exist - those with mental/physical health disorders, kids, families on social services. School starts on Monday and for many kids who rely on the meals program, if school is delayed even a week ---thats one more week those kids exist with maybe one meal a day if they are lucky. We must do better. I, you, all of us. We are in this together. Tomorrow morning I plan to go to Aldis and buy canned goods to take to the Ferguson panty - if you are interested and want to join along, message me. Peace. One love. :-)
