There is a restaurant in town, an Italian place named Toscano, - TopicsExpress

There is a restaurant in town, an Italian place named Toscano, located on 1501 N. Norma, and they have been open for 3 days. The parking lot was very full when we went, so it was nice to see the town giving a new place a try. After a short delay, we were seated in the sun room which is lit mostly by lights running up the supports of the room. Very cool atmosphere. In the middle of the main dining area was a HUGE salad bar (I think it was around $12 for just the salad bar) that had pizza, mac and cheese, chicken noodle soup, fruit salads, macaroni cold salads and tons of ingredients for a mixed green salad. Since my husband had a late lunch, we decided on burgers. Mine included brie cheese, onion jam, and bacon. While the brie added moistness, the burger was a bit overcooked and underseasoned. The fries were yummy, nicely seasoned (garlic and parsley?) and cooked in canola oil. We witnessed several disgruntled customers due to delays and the kitchen was working hard to handle the backlog of orders. This seems to be common with a soft opening and we had no problem waiting 1/2 hour for our burger. We have found that customers fail in the understanding department when it comes to the opening of new restaurants and I would like to tell those people that perhaps they should wait a couple of weeks and try again before making up their mind on a place. :) The waitresses were all very pleasant and the woman who greeted us at the door was very enthusiastic (perhaps a bit too much, but I think shell settle in once the excitement of the opening wears off). Well definitely be back to try their Italian offerings next time. Moderately priced with an average of $10-20 per person, Toscano fits right in with the other larger restaurants in town.
