There is always a circle. There is always a center. A radius is the relationship between the two. When harmony is present two points share a common center. Movements are concentric. Eccentric motion in correct dressage is a device that leads to harmony; in poor dressage it leads to chaos. Of course, this is a physical and mechanical reality but consider this on a psychological level as well. So it is that dressage embraces so much more that what can seen by the eye. Touch finds and orients mind and body. Space is what defines balance. All of this ambulates. It is the mixing of the movement of the mind with space itself that self carriage shows it most auspicious side. This maybe seen as mystical but that is to miss the point. It is technical perfection of a mind that seek to expand its container and so here is the freedom that the horse and human most desire. Beautiful dressage is the manifestation of geometric multidimensional motion. It is a dance which touches life itself common to two and manifesting in one; the centaur.
