There is an episode of Primetime tonight on RTE which shows the appalling and horrific mistreatment of both the elderly and the sick in residential care in Ireland. As many of you know, my own dad was terminally ill. My wife Olga and I refused for him to be placed in care for fear that something like this might happen to him. We saw the HSE and the entire system fail him before his death. He lived with us and our team of carers gave him a reason to smile. I do not class all carers/health staff as terrible people. They have a job to do and do it as best and as safely as they can. However, this is an important topic to me and what I wouldnt give to get my hands on these little shits for 1 minute. They would never torture or harm another living soul for the rest of their lives. They should be named, shamed and jailed. Not protected by ministers and department officials. This happens everyday and nothing changes in this shit-hole society we live in. I suggest people view this programme as you never really know who you let into your life to look after those you love.
