There is an increasing sentiment about the mainstream christianity in Singapore and around the world that how far it is really from the biblical christianity. The humble beginning of the faith resided among the believers who shared everything, spurring each other on in the love of Christ, fostering communities of believers who stood against the wrath of the Roman empire, and a tenacity of faith that stood against the threats of death, in contrast, today’s christianity, the values of a servant leadership have all but disappeared, but superstar preachers took the pulpit with more fanfare of a hollywood celebrity. These superstar preachers of the church stay in the limelight as if they are the new pope, that they are beyond reproach, ride in million dollar transportation while their congregation supports their luxurious lifestyle. It doesn’t matter that there are poor, widow, orphan, and the broken hearted among them, because they are simply overlooked as being sinner who God did not bless. I am absolutely angered when these super preachers were found wanting by the law, they continue in their defiance and claim that they are under persecution, and lie about their hidden lifestyles that have so fallen short of the standard God has set for His servants. I am astounded to find that the deluded leaders are not just deluded themselves of which their fruits of their wicked lifestyle is upon their own congregation too, where their followers were as deluded, as likened to a cult, the discerning spirit is all but gone, left to their own manner and device of imagination and deceit. How much longer will God’s people contend with idolatry? Taking a lie for the truth and beginning to stand up in place of such disparity of lifestyle in which the Scripture has called us to live? I am disturbed that even among the Church, the opinion is divided, and in the name of Love, we choose to compromise instead of confronting, we choose to condone, instead of rebuking and correcting. Such love is nothing but hypocrisy, because we have chosen to allow our fellow brothers and sisters in Christ to walk down that wide but sure path to a certain destruction without pointing out. We are all called to be a watchman, it is not just a selected number of people, but we who knows the truth, should warn, and be a beacon to draw them back from that destiny that is not meant for the believers. When the Church starts to compromise with God’s standard, we have chosen to be a certain cold and deluded believers.
