There is an unmistakable correlation between Gods Moral Law and personal holiness. Holiness means to be separate. When God says, Be holy because I, the Lord your God, am holy He is saying, Be different from everybody else in the world! Holiness is not sin-lessness, but it IS less-sinning. Our love for God and our separation from the sinful influences of the world naturally mean we will make fewer sinful choices. Holiness has to do with motive--why we do what we do. The quality of our moral decisions are played out in our life everyday. Do I love God? If so, my actions will attest my love for Him. Do I care about my family? My behavior will support my claim. Do I love my wife? Do I care about others? The answers to these questions are not difficult to determine. In each case the Truth will be dictated by my behavior. So, if someone points out that my actions dont align with the values I claim, they are not being judgmental but simply making an observation. Our holiness is a product of the choices we make, according to Scripture, to please God and to be different from a world spiraling out of control into a cesspool of moral decay. Lets not just say we are a peculiar people; an holy nation; a royal priesthood but lets live it out before the world!
