Video of my Black Friday shoot of abandoned homestead houses in Wonder Valley CA (Joshua Tree). American abundance in decay... Ive been photographing the Wonder Valley abandon 12x20 homestead houses for over a year with a 4x5 film camera titled The Third Eye that is made from a 150 year old skull of a 13 year old girl. Together we photograph the beauty of decay. I have spent hundreds of hours wandering from homesteads to homestead, each on its own path of decay, to feel a sad beautiful warmth that i have become addicted to. Some of the homestead interiors havent been touched for 50 years and still have pictures on the walls, bills from the 1960s on the desk, books on the shelves and clothes in the closet that fall apart when you touch them. The only evidence of life are the pigeons in the rafters and the jackrabbits in the floorboards. But the evidence of, the presence of and the silence of time is overwhelmingly beautiful. The video was shot by Jade Beall Photography and music by Jason Webley.
