"There is free cheese in every mousetrap" There is free cheese in every mouse trap. Keep that in mind next time a credit card company offers you a new line of credit or you take out a loan, or buy a new car or skip a few days of work. The point is this, many of us “took the cheese” and we spent money like there was no tomorrow…well guess what, the tomorrows are here. Now, after the trap “snapped shut,” many of us are crying like babies, claiming we were taken advantage of. Stop with that nonsense. I’m not saying the pain we are feeling is not real but let’s be honest…many of us are “volunteer victims” and have no one to blame but ourselves. Show some courage and choose to fight! Here’s my solution: Let’s help the helpless but make those of us who are capable and who “took the cheese” pay for their own mistakes…me included. Bailouts are for family and friends and not the government’s job. Whatever my personal situation, I’m not nearly as well off today as I was a few years ago. Our business is slow and we are fighting hard to find new clients every way we can. We are also using the time to “plant seeds” for the future…another concept lost on many of my fellow citizens. I can assure you this, if we “plant some seeds” now we all will be better off in a few years. Personally, I’ve turned on, turned up and gotten refocused and I’m invigorated by the challenge. There is no one coming to save you … the government cannot rescue anyone and anything they provide, in terms of bailouts and subsidies, is just more free cheese in the same trap! We’re going to have to save ourselves…and hey, isn’t that what America is really all about. Isn’t that the spirit of our founding fathers and the spirit that got us out of the depression? It’s not that I don’t feel your pain, or my own pain, it’s just that I choose not to stick my neck back into the same trap that nearly snapped it off.
