There is more E. coli (i.e. fecal matter) in a kitchen sink, on cutting boards, in refrigerators, and on kitchen sponges than in a toilet after you flush it. You can invest in toxic cleaning supplies to rid your kitchen of germs but the easiest and healthiest way to disinfect is to use apple cider vinegar. Rinse your cutting board in straight apple cider vinegar and splash your sink and the inside of your fridge. Soak your kitchen sponge for an hour or so and then put it in the dishwasher when you run your next load. You can splash some at the bottom of the dishwasher as well. I buy apple cider vinegar on vitacost and it is delivered right to my door, so no lugging it home from the grocery store.
