There is more than one way to skin a cat. Just because something seems complex doesnt mean theres not merit to it. Pattern recognition is something humans are very good at and using patterns and logic to take apart math is very clever and will help when the formulas become more difficult, not to mention open up the doors to critical thinking. There are similar pattern based methods of learning other numeric systems such as binary and hexadecimal; I was taught one myself to learn binary math (which also had multiple ways to learn). Just because dumb people dont understand something doesnt mean its bad. I once heard a kid on a radio show who was able to do any math problem almost instantly in his head, regardless of complexity, and he said that understanding the patterns in the numbers is key.... So what else in common core do people not understand and think is evil? This is my first exposure to it and Im not buying the hate. This video shows me a legit way to learn something.
