There is no fuel price hike this month in Malawi as the countrys Energy Regulatory Authority (MERA) has maintained pump fuel prices. Petrol prices remains at K839 per litre, diesel at K853 per litre and Paraffin for industrial use at K719, while for domestic use will still be sold at K171 per litre. A statement signed by MERA chairperson Lyton Zinyemba says the development comes as the Malawi Kwacha gained 2.06 percent in value compared to other major foreign currencies such as the US dollar. Zinyemba says this therefore did not make a huge difference to the increase of fuel prices on the global market as prescribed by the Automatic Pricing Mechanism.
