There is something horribly unfair about how this news of several thousands massacred by the jihadist Boko Haram in the northern Nigerian town of Baga on January 9 has been treated by the worlds media. The Charlie Hebdo attack only took a dozen or so lives in all, yet the entire worlds media was entirely focussed on it. Not a word about Baga. Even the BBC, which normally is quick to report such happenings does not have more than a perfunctory mention about this. The less said about Indian media, the better. It only goes to prove once again that a dozen White people being killed is far bigger news than a few thousand Africans killed. Even Barack Obama has not said a word about this. Jean Paul Sartre once wrote about Black Skin White Mask. Then this is it. We have all become like that. I bet even the Lagos papers would have given more space to the Charlie Hebdo killings than to the Boko Haram massacre.
