There is still one person in U.S. receiving pension benefits from the Civil War. The Wall Street Journal released an article that highlights Irene Triplett, the last child of a Civil War vet on the VA benefits roll. Her father, Pvt. Mose Triplett, was only 16 years old when he started fighting in the war, and 83 years old when his wife (60 years his junior) gave birth to Irene. LIKE if youre surprised that someone still collects benefits 153 years after the war began.
