There is such a DEEP esteem for Father Abraham in the great monotheistic religions: Islam, Christianity and Judaism. Or as Father Sidney Griffith, a professor of Semitic and Egyptian languages and literature at the Catholic University of America, puts it, when comparing the Bible and Koran, ...Neverthheless, the Koran provides numerous points of convergence for interreligous dialogue. One of the most important of them is the significance of the faith of the biblical patriarch Abraham. So my husband said to me yesterday, the Hajj (Muslim pilgrimage to Mecca) should be observed by Christians and Jews as well! Everyone should be able to participate in this great, life-changing journey to honor God, our common ancestry and submit our lives again to Him. So...what about that? As Brian pointed out, there would be a lot more peace in the world.
