There seems to be increased posting, by supposed progressives that is Anti-Israel and more specifically full of claims about the ZIONISTS. I believe there is this massive ruling ZIONIST regime about as much as I believe the ILLUMINATI rule the world secretly as well. NOT AT ALL. I usually find that belief in these kinds of all powerful groups falls into the same realm of the right wing’s beliefs in multiple conspiracies. In my mind very few people are bright enough to run their own lives, much less massive conspiracies! Which brings me to the real issue. The passionate frustration with the middle east situation. I too agree the Palestinians have a right to their own homeland, but I also believe that any sane person believes that Israel does too. Very often I see the word “THEY” used in discussing how bad Israel is behaving, but they all make the classic debating error of saying that the citizens are part of THEY. That is as bad as the world blaming ME for the illegitimate wars and TORTURE done by Bush. WE the people didn’t choose that and the Israeli citizens, from the friends I have there, don’t like many of the decisions their government is making either. INDIVIDUAL PEOPLE ARE NOT THEIR GOVERNMENTS. Until the people stop spreading hate all over the internet and the world I do NOT see Peace there or anywhere. I will also emphatically state WE CAN NOT REWRITE HISTORY. You start with what is now, not with wishing one state or another will disappear. Too late for that, we are where we are now. So, if all you supposed progressives actually want to heal the middle east situation than stop posting INFLAMATORY crap about the Zionists. That will not help solve the real problem that exists there now. HATE breeds hate, not Peace. Before I get tons of retorts, Israel does have the right to defend itself after being attacked, yes I know they have hit civilians, but so have the bombs aimed at them. I also agree and so do many of their citizens that building settlements beyond the existing lines was NOT a great idea, but that again was caused by a limited number of people. One of the reasons I get very angry about denigrating a whole race/religion/group is that I grew up living with anti-Semitism and I lived in New York. That is also why it raises my hackles when Americans put all Muslims in the same group as well. This whole issue is exactly why I gave up on any and all religions early in my life. THEY DIVIDE, not unite. That tribal belief has always caused hatred and wars why not see if we can start healing, instead of spreading classic HATE.. and BLAME. Because you know.. It’s always THEM that is in the WRONG.. never US. Let’s take some responsibility and say there is always enough blame on both sides. Let’s try to move forward, as Progressive like to say they want to do instead of getting mired in the mud of centuries long conflict!
