There should be a rule about backing up modern economic arguments - TopicsExpress

There should be a rule about backing up modern economic arguments with religious quotations: Before you say ANYTHING else, you need to preface it with one that comes reputedly from the big J: "It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter the Kingdom of God." Case in point: Rep. Stephen Fincher (R-Tenn, imagine!) wants to cut food stamps funding in the current farm bill, reportedly quoting 2 Thessalonians: "Anyone unwilling to work should not eat.” And yet: "[T]he God-fearing Fincher is one of the largest recipients of U.S.D.A. farm subsidies in Tennessee history; he raked in $3.48 million in taxpayer cash from 1999 to 2012, $70,574 last year alone. The average SNAP [food stamps] recipient in Tennessee gets $132.20 in food aid a month; Fincher received $193 a day." opinionator.blogs.nytimes/2013/06/04/welfare-for-the-wealthy/
