There was a time when I lived on a small island known as Norfolk Island for a short period. Of course being a craft gal it didnt take long to start up a weekly craft group in our local church hall for anyone that was interested. Wow! we did everything. from decoupage to spinning, quilting, knitting, crocheting. you name it we had a go. A young lady came along. She was only on the Island for a couple of years and wanted to see what we do. Then she announced I cant craft though so am happy to come and watch. well, that was like a red rag to a bull for one of the ladies, who secretly showed this girl how to do a qult square using glue! Consequently when I was in the la st week of my stay on the Island, the gorup took me out for lunch and presented me with a hand made quilt that all members had contributed a square to. Including this young lady who had made a delightful patch of a clown and balloons. The quilt hangs in my lounge to this day and is a reminder of how some encouragement, help and time spent with this young lady, brought about confidence within herself. So if you ever hear someone wishing they could be clever, encourage them....its worth the time and effort. next time I will share the photo of my quilt.
