There were three seconds on the clock. After enjoying a comfortable lead, the Wheaton Thunder football team conceded 15 unanswered points to the North Central Cardinals in the fourth quarter. The game was tied at 31 points. The Thunder lined up for a field goal on the 12 yard line. Senior Sam Cote ’15 kicked the ball straight through the uprights giving Wheaton the win and the Little Brass Bell. Bill Hood ’15 shot this video clip of the kick and the students storming the field to celebrate the victory. Since 1946, Wheaton and nearby North Central College have contested for the privilege of keeping a trophy mounted with a small brass bell. Congratulations Wheaton Thunder!
