There will be a forum sponsored by the League of Women Voters at 7pm tonight inTartan Hall: Public Education in North Carolina--Reform or Decline? A panel of local award winning educators will discuss budget cuts and how they are affecting our local schools, educational standards, class size, teacher presence, and our childrens’ needs. Panelists will include: Chris Baldwin - Superintendent of Macon County Schools Melissa Faetz - Region 8 Teacher of the Year Gary Brown - Iotla Valley Elementary Principal John deVille - NCAE local representative Tyler Faetz –Franklin High School AP English teacher Parents, teachers, staff, students, and community members are invited to attend and to share your public school experiences. The meeting will be held at Tartan Hall in Franklin at 7:00 pm. Notice that this program will be on Wednesday evening, 7:00 PM. The League will not be having its usual second Thursday lunch in August.
