There will be a guest speaker joining us at our November Book Club meeting. Mervat Aly, a friend of Gwen Harl’s is excited to join us and share with us her own insights and experiences being “the Muslim next door.” She will have read the book herself and I think it will be interesting to learn how her experiences either parallel or differ from the author’s. I had the pleasure of meeting Mervat two years ago when she invited Gwen and guest (me!) to celebrate Ramadan at her Mosque. She is just a wonderful woman and you will all enjoy meeting her. Book Club will be held on November 20th at Lisa Wallace’s home, 1606 Dell Ct., San Jose. The time will be determined by Mervat’s schedule, so that information will be forthcoming. Come enjoy our discussion, meet Mervat and eat Middle Eastern snacks.
