Theres a certain irony in the pursuit to develop quantum - TopicsExpress

Theres a certain irony in the pursuit to develop quantum computing. Better and faster computers are built to do more work, but not for works sake. We want computers to take the load off of human work. Beyond that there isnt much use for a computer. A quantum computer would essentially mimic the human brain and acquire sentience - the quality of self-awareness. Thats the irony. Ever since the industrial revolution industrialists have always sought efficient machines to replace inefficient humans. So what makes anyone think that a machine that thinks like a human will be any better at anything other than seeking to meet its own needs?? Wanna worker that thinks like a human? Make a baby.
