Theres a chasm of difference between being assertive and being aggressive. Charging up the ladder of life, knocking others to the ground, and breaking the rungs off as you climb, isnt a sustainable method of success. You may rise high and fast, but it wont last. Youve left yourself no capacity for recourse. The higher you climb; the more imbalanced and unsteady the ladder becomes. Eventually, it all comes crashing down, and what awaits you are the many lives you destroyed along the way. Dont be fooled by the arrogance of others. Their over-confidence is compensation for weakness and fear. Their brash and boorish appearance is a disguise for the immature child that resides in their mind. The louder and more obnoxious they are; the greater the inadequacy and insecurity they feel. They havent succeeded in life, because theyre better or smarter than others. They simply succeed by overpowering the passive, unconfident, well-meaning, but weak-minded by crushing them beneath the might of their uncaring, power-hungry agenda. You dont have to be an asshole to be successful. But, you do have to be an asshole to lord your success over others, while simultaneously being responsible for their incapacity to succeed. Enjoy your time at the top, because your meteoric rise will flame out, and the fall back to reality isnt going to be fun.
