Theres a difference in being 2-faced or hypocritical and being adaptable and relatable. Only anti-social people behave the same way all the time without being mindful of their company or the environment. Behaving differently, in different environments is not phony its an interpersonal skill. I think it is important to be consistently appropriate. However what is appropriate changes depending on space, time, and surroundings.
