So something that you may not all know is that 2 months ago I was told that I had 8 months to live. Something that you DO all know is that I have been battling with what is commonly seen as one of the most aggressive and difficult cancers to beat: Osteosarcoma. It was explained to me that I had 3 new tumors in my lungs and that one of them had grown at an alarmingly high rate to the point where it was no longer operable. For a couple of weeks I was meeting with those of you that I could to tell you in-person as well as compiling a list of tasks that would make my next 8 months the most epic youve ever seen. It was around this time that I got a call from my surgeon Dr. Yee, explaining that there was a slight difference in opinion and that he was not 100% convinced that the tumor had reached an inoperable state. I went in for surgery where they knocked me out to explore the inside of my lungs with a camera and when I groggily awoke, the only movement I could muster was a triumphant fist-bump to the news of my highly competent surgeons success. However, despite the bullet that had been dodged, I was rushed to the hospital just over a week ago from an unexpected series of seizures which although was not on my newly compiled list of things to do before I die, was certainly an unusual experience to tack on. After an MRI and a PET scan, it was discovered that I now have 2 more tumors in my brain, and while they arent by any means in an ideal location, Vancouver currently has some of the best surgeons and technology in the country for these very cases and I am confident that I am once again in the right hands. I started brain radiation 2 days ago, (check it off the list) and will be driving in to Vancouver everyday to do so for the next 2 weeks. At that time my case will be reassessed and I am confident from my journey thus far that the tumors will be removable at that time. I am posting this message because you all deserve to know about the possibility of my time being limited, but more importantly so that when I come out on top, (and I will) youre ready for a show.
