Theres a good chance Ill lose friends over this one but, its been a reoccurring debate across the county, and feel I should share my true feelings as a human, and a professional. Though we may never know the what and why, the simple fact is, this dog is a serious danger to society. If we were talking an ankle bitter, I MAY not feel the same way. Though an ankle bitter still has the ability to scar a small child for life, both physically and emotionally. How many times have we all heard, we had him confined, but someone left the gate/door open. We are imperfect, and live in an imperfect world. When a human physically, and brutally, attacks another human, we want them jailed, or put to death. Yet, when a dog mauls or kills another pet, or worse, a human, and then confiscated, or euthanized, we all cry foul. From my experience, some of the same people crying foul, who want to re-home, or allow the current owner to manage these aggressive pets, are often unwilling to take on the liability of caring for these pets themselves. Why do you think that is? Millions of pets with wonderful temperaments are euthanized across the country every year, due to lack of space in shelters, and rescues. When youre the one that has to euthanize hundreds of even tempered pets, as I have in the past, maybe youd have a change of heart. So, yes, in certain cases, I do believe in euthanasia.
