Theres just too much happening out there that breaks your heart... earthquakes, famine, needless deaths from useless wars, cancer in young children... when I see homeless people on the street begging for money... I try not to make eye contact with them because I dont want to connect with their pain or loss. I dont want to feel what they feel. I dont want to see the hopelessness and despair in their eyes, so I look away or pretend Im on my cell phone... But what would happen if we just felt it? By letting your heart break over and over again, you get to that part of yourself thats unbreakable.
