Theres nothing I cant stand more than having to preach a sermon around a pre-selected text. All I keep hearing is Dr. Gardner Taylor saying to me, If you cant preach the occasion, dont accept the engagement. Ive been trying for two weeks to make sense of this text, as it relates to the occasion, but it aint coming together (well, at least the way I expect). Now for all of you get it right all the time preachers, please do me a huge favor and not tell me how The Lord works, yada, yada, yada. I got it. But there are times when the text wins after wrestling with it for so long. Im tired. Its 78 degrees at 11:39 p.m., and Im going to sit in the sun and tan all day tomorrow. Maybe The Lord will beam something through the sunshine tomorrow. LBVS. If not, I sure hope The Lord and the people are blessed by this two week wrestling match.
