Theres some truth to this, but it also completely ignores the fact that youre able to stay in better touch today than ever before. It used to be that once you graduated high school or college, you never heard from most of your friends ever again. Now you can. I met my wife online back in the 90s. Its a fairly normal thing to do now, probably more likely than bumping into someone on the street. In the 80s, at least in New England, you didnt talk to people on the train. You kept to yourself, read a newspaper or a book. The mechanism has changed, but the basic human approach has not. Blaming that on technology ignores the history. But yes, when youre actually in the room with someone, it can be annoying to just be staring at screens.
